The Rocky Settlement, also called `` Grotte`` covers an area of about 3,000 square meters, its origin is still under study. Two of the most credited hypotheses: a colony founded by eastern populations, or a production/deposit outpost of the nearby Kastron of Mesiano. Built and modified over time, the oldest traces of the site seem to date back to the 8th-12th century. It consists of dozens of rock-hewn units partly excavated in the rock and partly built, for residential use, as shelters for domestic animals, for the production of wine and lime, for the storage of grain. The Caves of Zungri are immersed in a magical and fascinating natural environment.
